Hey!

Yes you are required to bring your own cutlery and crockery for accommodation and you can bring an extension lead.

I would recommend you look at the accommodation page for your university of interest and try and see if they have any photos or videos of the accommodation as this can help with figuring out what you wish to buy/bring.

Usually the only things included within your accommodation are the furnishing here I've linked an FAQ from Edge Hill which details what you should bring to university when staying in accommodation. This will be catered to Edge Hill but this will hopefully help provide some ideas on things you will need.

You could also look into whether your university has a chat to students function as you would be able to message a student on there and see if they think there are any specific things that need to be brought or bought.

Let me know if you have any further questions in regards to accommodation!

At our University, we published on our website all the items the students should bring.

We did not permit extension leads because they could overload the circuits and trip the power in the flat.

I recommend you consult your accommodation services website as they usually provide a guide and FAQs to new student residents.

Yes re. Cutlery & crockery. You might need less/more depending on whether you’re in self catered or catered accommodation.
I agree with the others about checking if extension leads are allowed, I would think generally they are allowed, but it’s best to check (same with things like clothes horses, air fryers, etc.).

Hi Anon,
Yes you will need to bring your own cutlery ect., i'd recommend marking it with a sharpie or with some nail varnish as sometimes everyone's cutlery can look similar and gets mixed up. It will depend on the university whether you are allowed extension leads in your room, but i'd recommend bringing one and then checking with the university when you've arrived.
Hope this helps
