Higher Physics - should I take it?

Hi! I am currently choosing my subjects for S6 and I think higher physics would be a good subject for me. I am still unsure of what I want to do after school, I think it could offer lots of opportunities like in engineering etc.

I haven’t taken physics since s2 so it would be a crash higher. I did higher chemistry and biology this year and got 85% in both the prelims and last year I got n5 maths at an A. I didn’t choose to do maths at higher this year because I did really bad in the N5 prelim and they made us choose subjects soon after the prelim.

I am relatively confident in my calculation abilities from higher chemistry and n5 maths but im just wondering if anyone could explain how much of a step up physics is because im not totally sure I should take it. I managed the calculations in chemistry really easily after practice but im sure physics is more difficult but im just not sure if it’ll be too difficult.

Any advice, tips, or knowledge on the difficulty would be so appreciated - thank you!!

Physics requires lots of practice with "mathematics" at its core to solve a problem and "Physics concepts" to come to that. High level physics will definitely require much effort than chemistry and biology. Phy>chem>bio so choosing phy means really hard work is waiting for you. Tip - Make cheatsheet for every topic you study in a paper to review the formulas.(It helps like heaven - God )

thank u for the reply, it’s helpful! did you do higher physics and if you did, how did you find it?

"Find it?" -- I need elaboration here

Like how challenging was it and how much revision/practice did it require compared to your other subjects?

Physics is all about solving and solving. Formulas and Mathematics. As compared to others subject, its on Different only if you love mathematics and formulas and yes if you love practicing. Then " high physics is for you. " So yeah think about it
by the way for ppl going into Highers/Advanced Highers this year, since England has other forums on reddit we though we should have one too for the Scottish exam takers (https://www.reddit.com/r/ScottishHighers/) so please join and make it less depressing than r/alevel ot r/6thform

Hi, I'm trying to join the subreddit but it's saying something about how I can't view the community
