"At Newcastle University, it can be difficult to change onto another course after the first few weeks of teaching."
"Speak to the Degree Programme Director (DPD) of the course you wish to transfer to and the DPD of your current course. Be aware that if you are looking to change course at Newcastle, it will be at the discretion of the DPD of the course you’re looking to join."
If you're sure you wish to change course, then contact their admissions teams now. It'd be far better to get this sorted before you start. Asking the question won't jeopardise your existing offer for History.
However, you should be prepared for them to say that Law is already full and that they therefore can't accommodate your request.

If an Offer Holder wants to request to change course we would ask them to raise an enquiry via the Apply to Newcastle Portal as soon as possible. The Undergraduate Admissions Team consider requests on an individual basis taking into account things such as eligibility and if there are any places remaining on the course.
If you are a home student, you won't be able to change course to our Law LLB Honours programme for 2024 entry because we are no longer accepting applications from home students for this course. I am sorry for any disappointment this may cause.
If a current student wants to request a programme transfer they have to do so in line with our Student Progress policies and procedures. Please note that any on-course transfer requests are considered on a case-by-case basis and are not guaranteed. Students wanting to transfer should contact their Personal Tutor and the Degree Programme Director (DPD) of the course they want to change to.
I hope this information helps. If you want further advice, please contact us via our enquiry form..
