Insurance/Clearing accommodation 2024

I've put Exeter as my insurance choice and there is a good chance I end up there as my firm offer is quite high. This means I can't apply for accommodation and will have to wait until after results day to do so. I've seen lots of people say they were unable to get halls first year and had to go private or rent in a house. If this is the case, I'd likely defer or apply to another uni through clearing. Any solutions to this? Any current Exeter students who had to apply through clearing/insurance?

Hi!!! I can’t really provide much additional info but I’m in the same situation (firmed durham) and realistically I probably won’t get in, but I’m so scared I won’t get student halls ☹️ going private seems a bit sad. For what it’s worth last year there were lots of free accommodation spaces from rejections so I’m hoping the same will happen this year because I expect the grade boundaries will be the same if not higher than last year (not to wish ill upon other offer holders lol). Last year they were able to guarantee accommodation to late applicants:

I asked a similar question on here earlier and got a reply from a student rep, I’ll link the thread
