Is there a way to check how much water you ACTUALLY use each day? The water bill seems way to high and it seems there is something wrong. How do we get the water company to sort this out?

Do you have a water meter?
If so, make sure you've turned off everything that uses water in your house; then check the reading on your water meter (take a photo); wait an hour, check the meter again (take a photo) to see if the reading has changed. That will give an indication of whether or not there might be a leak.
If you do have a meter then the bill will show how much water you're being charged for, probably in cubic metres (m³). As a guide, my household of 3 people uses around 120m³ of water per year.

In my case, the meter is read every 6 months.
They take the previous reading from the current reading to give the amount of water I've used (in m³).
They multiply the number of m³ by the cost per m³ -- in my case that's just over £1.50 per m³ -- to give a "volume charge" (i.e. the cost for the total volume of water used).
On top of that there's a standing charge (about £50/year) -- so around £25 in each 6-monthly billing period.
They add the volume charge and the standing charge together and that's what I get billed for.
I also have to pay a sewerage charge. That's based on the same amount of water supplied, with a 5% deduction. Again there's charge based on the volume of water at around £1.80/m³, plus a standing change of around £60/year. In my case these come on the same bill even though the water is supplied by one company and sewerage service are provided by a different company. They've very sensibly set up a joint company to handle things so customers only get one bill to pay.
If you don't have a water meter, then the billing arrangements will be different.
