This is quite a vague question, the way I interpret this is you are asking if it is good for a the 8th grader to outperform the 10th graders on a test. In that case it would be "good" from the 8th grader's perspective for him to have outperformed the 10th graders, but "bad" from the 10th graders' perspectives.
