Question about CPR

This is a complicated issue that is likely incredibly discretionary may not even be required. However, it is worth asking about.

For my 2021-2022 year, I failed a foundation year as a result of me having to deal with extreme mental health issues as a result of dating an extremely suicidal & abusive ex + covid. I had to use my extra year to continue. I had originally intended to transfer to another university after I finished my first year due to me beginning to see the university I am at now as a constant reminder of it all; which is harming my studies.

In the case that the university I want to transfer to forces me to restart year one; would it be possible to reclaim the extra year with a CPR as the website doesn't say you cannot and I feel like with the full context it would be valid. I do not have much in the way of evidence outside of communications between me and the university for mitigating circumstances & a question that involves the situation from the time when it was occuring (ish)

Hi there, there isn't a limit to the amount of CPR used. You just can't claim it for the same year as before. For example, if a student leaves their course in 21/22 and sends evidence (that is accepted) for 21/22 then they can't use 21/22 evidence again. It needs to be a different previous academic year. Thanks, Jason

Sorry I might of worded it wrong, i mean the situation that i wrote about - not reusing CPR again; I have not applied for it yet (am unsure if i will need to)
Hi there. Can you please confirm how many years you have studied previously in total? Thanks, Leah.

No, here its the timeline:

FY = foundation year

2021/2022 - FY 1 (Effectively dropped out (Failed) & Had to retake as a result of extreme mental health issues
2022/2023 - FY 2 (Me retaking FY) [gift year?]
2023/2024 - YR1

I am trying to get the gift year back so that i could transfer as a result of this due to it being severe mental health issues (abuse, dealing with a S*icidal person & more) that caused me to fail the year. I want to transfer to a different university due to me associating my current one with the stuff i dealt with at those times which harms my academic ability due to it wearing on my mental health

Thank you for reading, I understand that this would probably be a case by case basis thing as I have left lots of the worst stuff out because i am not comfortable sharing it here

Thanks for clearing it up for me.

You can apply for CPR for your 21/22 Academic Year. We'd need evidence of the extenuating circumstances and a cover letter from yourself giving a statement of events and the impact it had on your studies.

CPR is reviewed on a case-case basis and is up to the assessors discretion if it's accepted. Further evidence may be requested and you will receive the response via email.

Thanks, Ross

I do not have any doctor/formal evidence outside of like 3 mitigating circumstances things and an ask thing for my university; would this be okay? (as due to the situation i couldnt really see a doctor about the effects of an abusive relationship and I didnt know there was any NHS option for mental health stuff at the time)
Hi there,

Yes we can accept evidence from your university on their headed paper.

Thanks, Drew

Hi there, Yes, we can consider the evidence as long as it has the university heading. Thanks, Angela
