You need to declare all your grades. So you'd apply with your achieved grades and you'd also put in the education section your intention of resitting A levels and put the grades as "pending", much like you do when you apply in year 13

but the whole intention of me retaking my exams is bcuz my grades the first time round werent good enough. so literally no uni would take me if i apply with my original grades so how can that make sense??

Not declaring your qualifications on UCAS is fraudulent and grounds for the universities to retract any offer they might have given you.

Since you will also place that you have pending qualifications, universities will understand that you're resitting and hoping to get better grades. You'll also have to still provide a reference, and you should talk to thek about if they'd be happy giving you predicted grades.

i’m not saying i’m not gonna declare my original alevel results obviously i will. was just asking if i can apply with better predicted grades as everyone does. esp since i won’t be in school anymore so surely id have a say in what i would prefer them to be.

You can apply with better predicted grades, but it's up to your reference to decide what these will be, although I'm not too clued up on how would this work. @Admit-One, would you happen to know how are predicted grades done when you're resitting A levels independently?
Whoever is nominated as a referee will be asked for predictions.

A tutor might be willing to provide them.

Your previous school might if they liaise with an external tutor.

Many independent retake students apply with no predictions. Unis are used to this. Most are fine assuming at least a 1 grade increase, but if you’re apply to A*AA with DDD they might think you’re being optimistic.

Thanks for the tag @Scotland Yard

so has she resat her alevels then? how did she get her predicted grades so high did she have to ask for a reference? surely if i ask my previous teachers for high predicted grades they can’t deny it since im not even a student at their school anymore. i’m still taking my alevels but don’t feel so hopeful so wanna be prepped.

You don’t ask anyone for high predictions. Your referee makes as accurate a prediction as they can based on the information available to them.
