our papers were likely written last year though before the whole conflict so that won't affect it but yeah a question on human rights in general and regionalism could come up

talked to my politics teacher yesterday and he said regionalisms not likely to come up, he said a question like managing conflict and security is more of a concern than economic and global environment

i’ll put it in a question form. to what extent are non state actors (such as nato and the UN) more concerned with tackling conflict and security issues (wars and conflicts) rather than addressing economic issues (such as poverty) and environmental issues (such as climate change) hope that helps

ah i see. i never know how to structure these questions? what would you do your three sections on if the question was: Evaluate the view that global governance has succeeded in preventing conflict between states but failed to prevent human rights abuses

So my advice this is what my teacher said, the split the essay in half. first address conflict so i would talk about

1. humanitarian intervention to resolve armed conflict
2. peace keeping missions than UN and Nato involved inn
3. Courts and tribunals prosecuting war criminals in tribunals

then address Human Rights
1. States remaining sovereign and do not have to cooperate with laws and legislation which protect human rights e.g many arab nations still use execution as punishment for homosexuality which is a protected characteristic
2. humanitarian intervention is selective and fails to address human rights abuses such as rwandan genocide 1994 and UNSC security council contains powerful nations like the USA who use veto to stop humanitarian aid from entering Gaza
3. limited jurisdiction of court such as ICC ICJ
e.g russia doesn’t follow pretty much any court rulings

so if your LOA is that yes they are better at conflict.
then your for paragraph would be your first point but then how do you counter that and say human rights abuses are prevented….

I don’t get how you do a for and against structure for these types of questions when they’re linking two contemporary problems together.

yeah paper 3 is a headache. the way i see it is the essay isn't about the extent that human rights are protected, if it was a single topic essay then of course you would try to discuss that yes they are protected and then no there not. but the 2 topic
questions (human rights vs global conflict), you have to disregard countering your first point and instead talk about the secondary topic to ensure you cover all ground.
