Driving help

Hi,

I'm currently learning how to drive but lessons are really expensive so I don't to waste/mess up my lesson and it end up being a practice instead of learning new things. I can't practice in my parents car but I've already paid my instructor £500 so I'm really worried now and I've only been doing one hour lessons. So I want to ask those that can drive - how can you remember everything?! Like mirror checks and right time to indicate or change gears and how can you do it all so quickly?? I'm stressing out so much but I have a test booked in Aug and I need to do well. Any help?

"how can you remember everything?" - Its just something that comes naturally. Its pretty easy to know when to indicate, however with mirror checks you need to train yourself to look whenever you are going to do any kind of action, such as slowing down for a junction, changing lanes or exiting a roundabout. Even when driving on a road you should check mirrors frequently to understand/know what's around you and how you may impact other road users. You will get it in time and practice.

So it comes with time and practice. First you have to be completely comfortable with the control of the car, then you can really focus on the things around you. I would say that a year from starting learning to test success is a comfortably realistic goal

If you're still stressing about basic things such as checking mirrors and changing gear, then you are clearly not ready to take a driving test. Do yourself a favour, cancel it, take the pressure off and book another one when you're ready
