Hi, I don't really meet the criteria that you have mentioned as English is my first language but I completely understand why you might be struggling to get the grades you want. I definitely think that you can get a higher grade and there are specific things that you can learn to look for and talk about which will get you the grades you need. If you can list a couple of things that you specifically find difficult, I can give you some advice.

for me the time to understand the text is the most difficult thing and starting to write the answears as well.
saddly i dont get extra time for that so I dont have a solotion for it than just read more to make my understanding better.
i have a tutor how is meant to help me and when i ask for feedback she mostly say am not detailed and my expression is bad. and this is again because am not eng speaker. when i read what i wrote i fully understand it but if my friends for example read it they will say it lacks good expresion.
so i would say that my worst part that people can help me with is how to be detailed.

Hi,
I don't really know how to help you with understanding but I think what would be easy for you is to learn set phrasing and set techniques. Firstly, identify techniques. If you see a metaphor, personification, simile, first person/second person, modal verbs, listing, repetition TALK ABOUT IT.

POINTS TO REMEMBER:

Repetition is nearly always to emphasise a point. The writer uses repetition here to emphasise the fact that he is worried/happy etc.

Listing is used to show a train of thought/ to emphasise something.

The writer uses listing to show his overwhelming train of thought OR the writer uses listing to emphasise the amount of items the girl needs to buy.

First person is used to make it personal/second person is less personal

Metaphors and personification can be used to give a clearer image of a setting/ an event etc.

Structure, long sentences/short sentences= build tension

Naming techniques is good. You do need to understand the text to fully unpack quotations and unfortunately I can't think of any ways to help with that. Practice lots of past papers even if it is just going through past texts and annotating them which techniques. Remember pick a few quotations which you understand and fully analyse them with the above techniques. This is what will get u marks. In terms of timing, practice makes perfect- keep rewriting answers under timed conditions and you will definitely get faster. For Q5, perfect the best answer possible- something simple that can be reused and that can be rewritten in the exam (as long as it answers the question) and that will easily boost ur grade. I really hope that you will improve, sorry if this isn't much help!
