does anyone else just want a-levels to be over now?

i hate how they're spread out over weeks - i literally have a month left and im so demotivated bc i have nothing to look forward to for the next month until summer
with mocks they were over + done with in a week, back to back on each day however i have a week between each exam and its driving me insane. im ready to take all my exams + just be done with the whole thing - i feel im just going to do worse + get burntout studying everyday because of this week gap between each one.

Me too tbh I feel so helpless I’m just trying to be positive but the stress is eating me up and it’s not helping that I feel burnt out and demotivated. I still have 4 exams to do and everyone around me seem to be doing well except me so I feel more down. Ugh I hate this feeling.

yeah half term has really thrown me off, thought I'd be able to revise effectively each day but I've just been less motivated each day to do anything. And even though the whole exam period is not that long in the grand scheme of things, it's dragging so much that it feels like it's been going on for months

Hi @emelianiloufar ,

I hope you are well and taking care of yourself.

A-level exam period is rough and anyone else who says otherwise is simply wrong because you've worked nearly 2 years going to school, learning and revising now.

I am currently in my final year (just finished my exams) of university. I had a similar feeling where I had 3 exams spread out over a month, each a week apart and even after the first one felt so burnt out I couldn't bring myself to focus for a whole few days.

It is (unfortunately) normal to burn out and experience ebbs and flows with motivation especially during exam season.

Below are some things I did which I found to actually help (because everyone says to take a break but I always found this unhelpful because I needed to revise for my next exam): - just a disclaimer some of these may work, some may not but some ideas you can use might help and it is great to see you are sharing your frustration and not keeping it to yourself.

1.

Have people around you that you can spend time with where you do not talk about studying or work. This can be in person or an online community but dedicated time where you do not think about work (I used to think if I didn't think about work then I would forget it but if you have been revising for a long time this content is likely in your long term memory so it is ok to switch off for a bit).

2.

Find a song/a playlist that truly motivates/inspires you or a phrase that does the same job - mine was "one last push". When I planned to revise again after taking a break, I played a few songs that motivated me to push myself one last time (as I knew these were my last exams for a while). It sounds kind of odd but songs that made me feel like a boss truly helped me open my laptop and start revising again! This does not have to be your motivation but something that keeps you going for your last push before you take a long summer break may help.

3.

Doing lowkey revision before the day before the exam. The day before exam I barely did any revision, I either read through my notes or did some active recall (sounds counterintuitive but hear me out). This helped me so much mentally because if you don't know something the day before or morning of, you are likely to just not know it, so focus on the things you do remember and know right before. This helped me feel reassured with what I know and not get stressed about things I didn't know. I believe this worked for me as I get very worried before exams which I think affects my memory so keeping myself calm was essential before I took the exam.

4.

When you are taking breaks from work you could look at things you are excited for/excited to do. For example, in breaks I was looking at graduation dresses and watching TikTok videos of people graduating/their graduation to remember what I was working so hard for.

I hope this helps and gives you some ideas that work for you and I wish you all the best. You have got this and dont forget to BREATHE! It will all be over soon 🤞.
