Emergency pleaseee help me!

Hey, I did my A levels last year (2023) and applied to universities this year after a gap year:
And I am struggling to choose between Westminster University and Oxford Brookes University. I am going to do biomedical science, hoping to study for graduated medicine after, as I have financial issues and reject both good universities in both medicine and bio med as I am an international student. I am having a hard time choosing the right university, I have already done pros and cons but still don't know what to do. So your advice is much appreciated:smile:

Thank you.

Oxford Brookes - you will have a much better student experience in Oxford, and its cheaper / safer than being in central London.
Hi @Esmerayyy22,

It’s completely normal to feel uncertain when making such an important decision. Here are some tips to help you choose the right university for you:

1. Course Structure and Reputation
Research the biomedical science programmes at both universities. Look for modules or research opportunities that align with your interests. Consider each university's reputation in the biomedical field and how well they prepare students for graduate medicine. Alumni success stories can also provide valuable insight into the quality of education.

2. Location and Campus Life
Think about the location of each university. Westminster is in London, offering a vibrant city life and great networking opportunities, especially in the medical sector, but keep in mind the high cost of living. Oxford Brookes, on the other hand, is in Oxford, known for its academic heritage and proximity to medical institutions. Which environment do you think would suit you best?

3. Support Services
Look into the support services available for international students, such as academic assistance, mental health resources, and career guidance. A strong support system can make a big difference in your experience. At Oxford Brookes, we have a dedicated International Student Advice Team to provide a range of services and friendly advice for international students.

4. Financial Considerations
Since finances are a concern, research scholarship opportunities, bursaries, or part-time work options at each university. Some may offer specific funds for international students to help ease the financial burden. At Brookes, you might find our funding finder tool useful for exploring your options.

5. Visit the Campuses (if possible)
If you can, visit both campuses to get a feel for the environment. Pay attention to the facilities, student interactions, and overall vibe.

Choosing a university is a big decision! Trust your instincts, and remember that either choice can lead to exciting opportunities. Good luck, and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. We’d love to hear about your experience so far, especially if you’ve made your decision! 😊

Best wishes,

Clare
