Hey, I did level 3 CTEC health and social care and got into a BSc healthcare course (currently switching to a different BSc course though).

2nd year was rough because of covid but some of the unis I applied to asked what modules I did so maybe keep that in mind such as science related ones. Time management from the start is vital, take some time for yourself every now and again or you might burn out. Have some empty space on your schedule in case of interviews, sick days as well (this also works for uni!)

For work experience some places allow shadowing and even just finding some work at a help desk in a healthcare setting is good as you get to have a feel of the environment, know about confidentiality etc. I also recommend some kind of volunteering that involves interacting with members of the public such as charities (it looks good on a personal statement and is a lot less stressful than a paid job).

I suggest looking at regulatory bodies as they will have standards of care and other useful info on their websites. It's good to consider what experience opportunities can give you skills that relate to midwifery (teamwork, flexibilty, listening to others etc.) Do some research, familiarise yourself with the role of a midwife, the responsibilities, skills, pressures.

Good luck!
