Would Specsavers work experience be useful?

I plan on taking medicine at university when I'm older, and the requirements for many universities for a medicine application is work experience. I was wondering if a placement as Specsavers would be count towards this. I plan on asking GP surgeries, pharmacies and my city's hospital too, but I'm aware that they're quite busy and getting a placement at those places might be unlikely. One of my friends got work experience at Specsavers last year, so I know it's possible (albeit they had a family member working there).

Also, it's possibly useful to know that I don't plan on going into optometry, ophthalmology, or anything like that, so it's not exactly relevant, hence why I was wondering. Sorry!
