Wrote outside lines on A Level exams

I ran out of space so I wrote within the borders but just below the last line on some of my questions to finish off what I was writing. Is this allowed? It was only a few words?

Just remembered this and I’m stressed I may get marks deducted because of this.

If its like GCSE then yh u will. If it said 'do not write here' then yh u will.

They will notice that some is written outside the margin that is scanned and then the exam board will send the paper to an examiner to be marked physically (at least this is definitely the protocol with AQA). It just means the paper will take longer to mark. Check with your school to clarify if you are worried and at least they are made aware that some of your work is outside the margin if they need to take action about that.

Hi,

Have you spoken to your teachers about this, they might be able to help and give some advise. As they will have had students do this before, and some may have marked for exam boards before.

AQA issued a myth Q&A in 2020, which they stated it will just be marked physically if this happens instead of scanned, I've left the link below for you

Good luck with the rest of your exams!

Thank you this is reassuring. My exam boards are Edexcel but I would imagine it’d be a very similar thing for them also, so that students can still do the best possible.
