LIPA MA Acting/ 21+ BA Actors

Hi all, I just wanted to see if there was anyone else on here who has accepted their place for the MA in Acting at LIPA, or who will be on the BA and is over 21? I’m yet to see anyone else who will be on the MA course but I’m also aware that they haven’t closed applications yet which means it isn’t full yet! I’ve already sorted accommodation and I’m just curious to hear from others who are around my age or older who are going to drama school for the first time

Hi
My daughter is 22 - she’s currently on reserve for BA Acting and will accept if it becomes an offer. I will message you if she hears anything positive from LIPA x

We’re literally just back from Liverpool - when my daughter travelled up to her audition she had only seen the hotel and LIPA. So had a couple of girly days doing the ferry to Mersey and touristy bits aswell as watching a second year BA show last night.
The only ones I’d seen with offers so far were the 18 year olds, she had wanted to check out if there was more of a mix of ages and get a feel for whether she felt LIPA was right for her. There seems to be circa 12 that are straight out of college/school and then older ones that seem more casted (ie more mix of genders/ethnicity/nationality) and that may account for later notifications (not sure) - hence there may be more 21+ that come on shortly that have received/accepted offers. But there definitely are slightly older ones if that helps x

Ah that sounds like such a lovely little trip! Yeah it’s curious how it works with the ages, the MA is a little different as they offer places as they audition and then just close applications once they’ve given out all the offers, but I am yet to see a single other person on the course yet. I auditioned for a few schools and was the oldest in all my auditions, however I’m only 24 so wonder if they’re holding out for more older applicants. It’s good to know that there’s a mix for the BA though x

My daughter took a couple of years out to get experience before properly applying this year as she was told that drama schools wanted students to have a bit of life experience for BA Acting courses. She also did the BOVTS foundation course at 19 - there were only 2 her age and the rest older.
At LIPA she was probably the oldest on her audition day, with many of them still in sixth form. Some of the schools held later auditions by zoom so hard to tell but she was the norm at RWCMD, and Birmingham and at Guildhall, while there were others her age there was definitely a large proportion that were several years older.
We did look at the LIPA stats and apparently 15% of their students are “mature” (22+), if that helps. I think if she’s offered she may speak to Admissions to find out the age range on her course to see if there’s a bit of a mix. x

My son is 24. He has been offered a place in MA Acting. He hasn’t committed yet. He is waiting for some other results.

Hi! I’m on the course this year, if he has any questions that he wants to ask about it, I’d be happy to answer 🙂
