Mature student with children entitlement

Hey all! I just wanted to make a fresh post regarding what mature students are entitled to who have children as I’m struggling to find answers..

I’m a 29 year old single mom of 3 (9,7 & 3 years old) starting university in September.
I currently receive universal credit for myself and 2 of my children ( which replaced child tax credits )

My student finance is all in place.
Im entitled to the full maintenance loan,
Parents allowance of £1800 and 85% of child care costs paid for.
Iv also applied for NHS learning support fund of £5000 and £2000 parent support.
My student finance letter states that universal credit can only take into consideration £8500 of my student finance and the rest are grants so they can not be taken into consideration either.

Speaking with 2 different work coaches at the job centre -
One stated : I will still receive universal credit for 2 of my children.

Another stated: I’ll be entilited to around £200 a month

My questions are;
Will I still be entitled to any universal credit? And
Can I still claim housing benefit?

If anyone is in the same situation, I’d love to hear from you!
TIA x

I have no advice but I am looking to apply for uni for next year and I currently have no idea if I'll be able to afford it and how it will affect my universal credit. There seems to be no concrete advice online

See if your student union has a welfare advice trained officer.

Join the Facebook group set up for students on Universal Credit.

Perhaps Citizens Advice could help.

I have just posted a similar question before finding this, did you find out any more information?

I'm under the impression that regarded full amount ÷ months spent studying - £110 = UC entitlement. So if for example, your full regarded amount is £10000, it would be £10000 ÷ 10 months studying = £1000 a month. Minus £110 per month, UC will use £890 a month when calculating entitlement. And its £ for £, so you will lose £890 from your UC.

Hope that makes sense. My question on my own post was about working whilst studying and also claiming UC and how my income from employment would affect the rest of my UC entitlement after MLs are taken into account.

There is little to no info online or anywhere else for mature students who have kids and work. Its frustrating.
