Trump fought the law and the law won.
Wow, didn't think the day would come, hopefully American voters can see some sense now
I know there are other proceedings underway but it does have a whiff of Al Capone being got for tax evasion.
Good, although I doubt it will make much different to the upcoming election. One can dream, though!

1.

Donald Trump has been convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his historic criminal trial in New York.

2.

It is the first time a former or serving US president has been convicted of a crime.

3.

He will be sentenced on 11 July - the ex-president could face prison, but legal experts say a fine is the more likely outcome.

There's all kinds of accusations being made about the trial being politically motivated and 'rigged'.

Incredibly, the requirements to stand as US President are as simple as be a natural-born citizen of the United States; be at least 35 years old; have been a resident of the United States for 14 years. Being a convicted felon and even in prison doesn't stop you making a run for President!

Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years

Be at least 35 years old

Have been a resident of the United States for 14 years

Well the sex attack verdict didn't seem to change anything, crazy as that sounds.

*sigh* watch him get a slap on the wrist for this too.

The thing is I don't know if a conviction such as Capones would be possible today, it was a pretty corrupt way of getting it done and if I remember right they had to simply tear up Capones legal rights and ability to defend himself. What we're seeing now appears almost the opposite, Trump is still getting very special treatment that pretty much no one else would and the prosecutors and judges have to be very careful not get constantly drawn into drama that weakens the case, they def can't be seen to be playing into the witch hunt narrative or breaking their own rules :frown:

Apparently trump is a very innocent man and it was a disgrace in a rigged trial by a confliced judge who was corrupt.

Im convinced.
Fox News trying so hard to defend Trump and say that the trial was unfair 🤣😂. Why am I surprised though, it’s Fox News, just waiting to see what American Republicans on YouTube have to say about this.

I’m guessing that they’ll defend Trump in a similar manner.
It's the classic "the establishment is against me" rhetoric we've seen all before from Trump, he appeals to people who feel downtrodden by American systematic inequality by presenting himself as an outsider, "drain the swamp" and all that. What people forget is he's a billionaire and his family have been at the forefront of US high society for decades.

We see the same playbook used by Andrew Tate "they'll say I'm a criminal, they'll come for me and try to silence me". It's classic manipulation because that's exactly who these men are, it's sad that people fall for it.

Prison would be a boring outcome. I am really hoping he gets community service somewhere visible that New Yorkers can go and laugh at him.

I meant more in that paying hush money would be low down the list of the issues any Trump critic would suggest he was guilty of it's a pretty niche thing for him to ultimately end up convicted of.
Does anyone have the clear and concise details of the case?
The best I found was this which makes the case sound even more weird.

To find Trump guilty of felony-level falsification of business documents, the jury must unanimously find that Trump falsified the documents in order to commit or conceal a separate crime. But the jurors do not all have to agree on what that separate crime was, Justice Juan Merchan ruled.
Trump’s defense argued that, to issue a felony-level conviction, all jurors should be required to agree on the “predicate” crime.
Who knows if it was true justice or not. Everyone involved will have had their bias. Regardless it doesn’t make me think he will be any worse for POTUS since both Trump and Biden are frankly maximum useless. I’m sure if you dig around in most POTUS closets you will find troubling things.

I wouldn’t bet on it, never underestimate the ignorance of some voters.

Already getting people like Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh saying that the trail was unfair, “Kangaroo court”.

The crime wasn't paying hush money - that's not illegal in itself. The issue was basically that Trump wanted to pay Daniels hush money while trying to avoid having it directly tied to himself, which meant engaging in quite a bit of fraud.

This verdict just confirmed his presidency. The average person who doesn't suffer from TDS can see right through it and moderates will now lean towards Trump.

Other than that, the weaponisation of the judicial system will have damaged trust in the country for years to come.

The crowd who screamed "Lock her up!" are now crying about the judicial system being weaponised.

You've got to love the hypocrisy.

The moderates will lean towards the convicted felon and sex offender who sounds increasingly unhinged and keeps trying to get people hurt? yeah, I dunno if that's the moderates...

Do you consider yourself a moderate?
