Issue with laptop

I don't know where else to find help so I'm honestly just hoping maybe a couple of techy people see this as I have 0 experience with computers.

A while back I accidentally tripped over my laptop and damaged the charger, it's a Lenovo and the chargers have these yellow bits on the end - not sure what they are but a bit of the yellow broke off. This was weeks ago and it's been charging and functioning fine.

However, literally just 10 minutes ago, I turned on my laptop and the sound was completely distorted. It wasn't stuttering but it was kind of crunchy and warped, shortly after this my laptop froze - I unplugged the charger but it still registered it as plugged and the charging light stayed on. I couldn't do anything and I ended up having to turn it off, I turned it back on immediately after and now it's functioning completely fine. My laptop wasn't warm/hot because it hadn't been used 12 hours prior to this - alongside this, it was working fine when used the previous night.

This has never happened before - I don't know how long I have had this laptop but I'm guessing around 4/5 years now. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated!

Not very techy but did computer science gsce lol. I would suggest that because a wire has been damaged, the current can't flow properly through the charger so although it is working, it disrupts the processing of the computer when plugged in. Of course, buying a new charger should completely resolve the situation, but if you want that one then you could go to a local tech repair shop and ask if it is fixable. Hope this is somewhat helpful lol
