I want to study pharmacy at degree level but I don't study chemistry at a level. I do bio, maths and english as my subjects. are there any univerities that would find bio and maths sufficient?

Hi - i think Cardiff Uni takes chemistry or biology. It's the only one as far as I'm aware, but could be wrong. https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/course/pharmacy-mpharm

U can do a foundation year
You should check the entry requirements yourself. If you are expecting to do a degree you should be capable of doing that. Dont be so lazy.

All pharmacists must have an accredited MPharm degree approved by the General Pharmaceutical Council: https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/students-and-trainees/pharmacist-education-and-training/courses-and-qualifications-pharmacists

You can apply for some degrees with integrated foundation years, but you would need to shop around for them. For example:
https://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/study/pharmacy-mpharm-with-preparatory-year.aspx (will need to check what they consider science subjects)
https://www.uea.ac.uk/course/undergraduate/mpharm-pharmacy-with-a-foundation-year#entry_requirements
https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/courses/foundation-courses/pharmacy-mpharm-year-zero/pharmacy-mpharm-year-zero.aspx
https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/course/sfysfyub/pharmacy/
https://www.reading.ac.uk/ready-to-study/study/subject-area/pharmacy-ug/mpharm-pharmacy-with-preparatory-year

Do note, you are eligible for the following:
https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduates/2024/35577-pharmacy-mpharm
https://www.lincoln.ac.uk/course/phrphrum/
https://le.ac.uk/courses/pharmacy-mpharm/2024
https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/courses/course/pharmacy-mpharm
https://www.uclan.ac.uk/undergraduate/courses/pharmacy-mpharm (need to check what they mean by science subject)
https://www.bradford.ac.uk/courses/ug/pharmacy-mpharm/#nav-course-entry
https://www.keele.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/undergraduatecourses/pharmacy/#entry-reqs

The better approach would have been to do A Level Chemistry (with practical assessment). You can do this during a gap year should you wish.

Do note, if the above fails (I couldn't see why it would, but hey) then I would recommend looking into Access to HE course in science (at least 15 credits in chemistry and 15 in biology, to cover all bases). Most universities offering accredited MPharm degrees should accept them.

I would speak to a pharamcist
I think pharmacy involves a lot of concepts that a level chemistry introduces. for example, mechanisms
not sure, but do some research ☺️

Thank you so much!!! I’ve done so much research and found that University of Leicester also accept my subject (although maybe i’m just seeing things). Do you think I could get in to any Russell group unis through clearing with my subjects? Also, would I fail my first year if I got into Leicester? I’m very nervous but I really want to study Pharmacy. I’ve loved Chem since high school but i’m not sure my passion is enough

Not sure, you would have to contact them yourself. It would depend on the undergad admissions personnel of the life science/pharmacy department.

I haven't done the degree.

It would also depend on your own ability to do the degree. I don't know how well you would study, so I don't know how you would fare.

Since the MPharm degree is accredited, the syllabi are standardised and have similar content and similar difficulty to the similar degrees from other universities.

The UoL curriculum is significantly different from other Pharmacy courses. I would recommend attending one of their open days and talk to the academics running it

I don't believe you would fail, even if you haven't done a level chemistry. You would just have to study hard to keep up with it. With pharmacy, it doesn't matter if you go to a russell group uni because hospitals and pharmacies don't care where you get your MPharm degree from.
Hey! How was your GCSE chem? I did an Access to HE Diploma due to extended illness during A Levels (where I took chem) and am at Nottingham, and I won’t lie, my chemistry is not up to scratch! I wish I’d had the solid base as the students coming from A Level do, I’d really recommend doing some extra before you start an MPharm anyway (even if you get in just fine). DMs open if you want to talk, best of luck! X
