Decisions decisions... Where to do Maths?

I've got offers from Durham (A*A*A), Bristol (A*AA), Bath (A*AA) and Queen's (AAA) to do Maths but I have no idea which to pick. I have have only visited Queen's out of the 4 because of how the Open days worked out for me (I'm from Northern Ireland). I've heard a couple of people saying Durham isn't great for maths but I'm not really sure why that is? (My preliminary college is Hatfield btw). And then for Bath and Bristol they're fairly close to one another and have very comparable courses so I can't really discern between them. Any help is appreciated - thanks.

I’d say Durham and Bath seem to be the most reputable from what I’ve heard around but ofc I don’t know about subject rankings specifically.

Bath from those - Bristol has a huge accommodation issue so best avoided.

Are the accommodation problems at Bristol bad enough to completely rule it out? Also are there any reasons you'd recommend going to Bath as opposed to choosing it by process of elimination?

Bath is a nicer place to study and, yes, some people at Bristol are in halls in Wales!

I think Bristol is over-rated for Maths [i teach maths]

With offers from Durham, Bristol, Bath, and Queen's for Maths, it's quite a dilemma! Since you've only visited Queen's, it might be helpful to research each university's Maths program thoroughly. Consider factors like course structure, faculty expertise, and campus atmosphere. Don't forget to reach out to current students or alumni for their insights. Trust your instincts and choose the university that feels like the best fit for you. Good luck with your decision!

If at all possible you should try to visit these unis on open day and get a feel for the place, it is a big decision and highly personal as different people have different priorities in terms of all the criteria you need to consider. My son has offers for Durham and Bath, he has firmed Durham purely as he likes the place best. Bath probably has a better reputation for Maths currently, and seemed very switched on for Year in Industry opportunities if that is a big factor. We didn't consider Queens or Bristol but 2 of his friends are at Bristol for other subjects and both love it.

Bath is considered pretty top drawer. It’s also warmer than Durham😉
