Dental Hygiene or Computer Science?

Which of these two is a smarter long-term investment for a stable and lucrative career?

well its safe to say both these career paths are extremely fast growing fields. Both are smart! computer science is something that will probably give u more choice in paths as its needed in basically every field nowadays. However dental hygiene is also a growing + well paying field. Id say either tbh! or even both id say dental hygiene is something that requires lots of work to get to but computer science is also something u could do on the side or learn on the job unlike dental hygiene so either really1
Hey there @Atlantide , Coventry University Student Ambassador here! 👋

I'm a final-year Software Engineering BSc student at Coventry University, and I've completed a year in placement as a Software Engineer, followed by a returning full-time position offer. Naturally, I would vouch for Computer Science or Software Engineering! They have many overlapping modules and introduce programming languages such as C++ and Python in the first year, as well as mathematics and data science, integrating these principles in a hands-on practical module where you can start coding.

However, it's very important to enjoy the subject you're choosing. Both dentistry and computer science are lucrative careers, so I would personally narrow it down based on the following:

Where you plan to live/work: There is a good market for computer science graduates near London, would you consider potential relocation?

How many years you want to study: Dental schools typically have longer courses, including supervised practice.

Your passion: A career chosen without passion can lead to burnout!

I hope this gives some insight 🤗 I would suggest looking into our courses at Coventry University:
Computer Science BSc
Software Engineering BSc
