Hi there @rutted-piling

I know how stressful this process can be and the uncertainty of it. It is amazing that you are doing an EPQ, that is helpful. During clearing, the university might lower their grade requirements slightly depending on the demand for the course and the number of available places. They will look at each applicant individually and take your circumstances and results into consideration. The best approach is to contact our admissions team directly when you receive your grades, explain your situation, and inquire about the possibility of lowered entry requirements. 🙂

Take breaks and do the best you can do and hopefully you'll be joining us in September!

YOU HAVE GOT THIS!

Please let me know if you have any other questions or worries you have. I will be happy to answer your questions! 🤗

Thank you so much for your help!
I’m not really 100% sure with the clearing process. I have been told you can’t go through clearing if you’ve been rejected by that university. So if I wasn’t to get into UOL I can’t go back through clearing for psychology? Idk if I’m right in saying that but this is what I’ve been told

Hi OCR chem a level student here!!! I got a D in my y13 Nov mock, now I’m working at a few marks above an A! For OCR, I have found the key is to just sit exam papers. Sounds silly but all your revision should be past papers. After each one, go over your mistakes and sit the next years one. When you’ve sat them all, re-sit them again. I’m sick of looking at some of the questions because I’ve seen them so many times, but at least I know the answers ahah!
I will also say, focus heavily on transition metals for paper 1 mainly colours and ligand substitutions, as well as any other problematic topics (redox titrations are also good to learn; many others will drop the marks here so it could put you ahead of them!) and for paper 2 find a synthesis map on Google of all the reactions and blurt this every day until it’s second nature. This helps me get very high marks on paper 2!

I know you may think it’s too late now, but I say sit 2 paper 1 chemistry papers a day until the exam (this is my tactic also), and after that, sit 2 paper 2s until that exam, and do the same with paper 3. You will notice a lot of it is plain exam technique and the same questions pretty much appear every year. At first you will get bad scores. But you just have to keep sitting them, noticing the biggest topics where you lose marks. I promise if you just try this, even if not at the scale I’m doing it, it will do wonders 😍 it’s been the sole key to me getting my grade up! Don’t worry about paper 3 until you’ve finished paper 1 and 2 as well or you’ll overwhelm yourself! And usually it has the topics that weren’t on the others, and is an ugly exam so we all struggle on it 😆

Best of luck!!!

Awhh no worries! Chem was my absolute worst night mare and I used to cry and have tantrums whenever I couldn’t do an exam paper 😭😭 but once you push through that, after a few days of just doing past papers you will definitely make progress!!! Glad I can help 😁

Hi there,

I’m glad you reached out for clarification on the clearing process! Clearing can be a bit confusing, but I'll do my best to explain how it works and address your concerns.

Clearing is a part of the UCAS application process that allows students who haven’t secured a place at a university to find and apply for courses with available spaces. You can certainly still apply for the same course at Leicester through Clearing if they have vacancies. I hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Best of luck with your application, and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!
