bath vs. exeter

i have offers from both bath and exeter for maths and i need to pick my firm choice out of the two. i love both of them but im really torn which one to choose

exeter is a gorgeous campus, close to the city centre and probably a bit more social than bath
bath is close to bristol though if you want nights out and although its far from the town centre the buses are 24/7. the campus is kinda concretey and ugly but the town is stunning
bath is also very close to bristol where my bf is going so itll be easier to see him. i know this shouldn't be a big deal but i get anxious easily especially with change so this might be quite beneficial
the courses look relatively similar but im not sure whether exeter has a slight focus on environmental maths which i don't like although im sure you could steer away from it
exeter also has the rich tory stereotype which i want to try and avoid ad i think bath might offer more job prospects for after uni if i choose to settle in my uni town afterwards

i think i secretly prefer exeter but im worried about the type of people and the propsects after uni, and maybe being near my bf lol

please help offer your opinions

Bath - top specialist Uni for all STEM subjects, and the placement system is probably the best in the UK.
Exeter - great if you like surfing but has no reputation for STEM

Only you can really decide this although there are number of matters that need clarifying.

Firstly Exeter isnt really that far from Bristol. It is about an hour by train from Exeter St Davids to Bristol Temple Meads. St Davids is a 15 minute walk from Streatham Campus so there isnt a great deal in it. Certainly not enough to affect your decision.

As far as poshness both universities have high proportion of "posh" students. Bristol does as well and this may well be due to the west country being a fairly rich area. This information is a bit old but it shows Bristol had 36.8% independent school students and 0.9% free school meals students, Exeter had 28% and 1% and Bath 23.7% and 1% accordingly. It really isnt a reason for making a choice.

As far as the Maths courses are concerned Exeter offers a wide range of options not just environmental. They also allow students to take modules for other subjects in 2nd and third years so you could take say a CS module 1 year and a Law module in another. It isnt just environmental.

Bath does have a very good reputation in STEM whereas generally Exeter is better known for humanities but Exeter Maths graduates do get jobs in a wide variety of careers and I really dont think this will matter.

The most important issue is you need to decide where you will be happiest and only you can make that decision.
