Calling current Vet Students - laptop or tablet??

Hi guys,

I’m starting Year 1 in Sept and have been saving up to buy tech.

Should I get a MacBook or an iPad?

I feel like a laptop would have more uses but so many people seem to use tablets and they are more portable.

I’d love to hear from current students about which they’d recommend. Thanks

I would wait as some vet schools loan iPads for the 5 years. At UCLan they were all given new iPads on loan.

At my university about 90-95% of people have a laptop. A lot of people have a tablet as well. Tablets are good for portability but unless you have a keyboard attachment you are basically handwriting notes with a pen which is touch and not really recommended.

Icl I’ve barely touched my laptop all year, I use my iPad with Apple Pencil and just have a Bluetooth keyboard when needed.

I would pick an iPad over a laptop everyday but it really is a personal preference thing. I have a very cheap laptop and invested in my iPad 😌

Personally I very much prefer a laptop, but then I just don’t really like Apple products except iPhones so I can’t comment on what an iPad can and can’t do compared to a MacBook. I have a cheaper Samsung tablet which does have a pen so I like to use it for revision, and with a cheap keyboard attachment for notes in lectures as the battery lasts days and it is small and lightweight compared to my big bulky gaming laptop. But I absolutely hate using the tablet for anything except those things - everything else is done on my laptop. It is just what you prefer.
