Did my NEA based on quality of life last year. For the literature review, I looked at Danny Dorling's 32 stops then spoke on what the book was roughly about and how it linked to my study. I then basically took out 4 points he made (which in this case were factors that influenced quality of life) and said I was going to also investigate these to support my investigation. My teacher said it's important that you link your literature to your project as much as possible to gain the marks. If it's too vague and barely has any correlation, it'll basically just be waffle. So yes, you write about further research (literature) you've looked at thats going to support/inspire your investigation. I think the length varies depending on the book and also your word count. I know some teachers recommend you stick to the 4000 word count (which is on the NEA guide) - but this wasn't enough for the majority of my class. So the teachers didn't mind if we went over but we were told not to take the ****... I kept my lit review to about half a page (was around 500 words) bearing in mind I had 11000 words by the end...

I hope this helps slightly or gives you some kind of context, I didn't see any responses so I thought I'd give you what I know as I was completely clueless and had nothing up until about 2 months before my due date to pull it together due to the lack of guidance I had. Ended up getting 53/60 somehow... But you've got this, gets way easier once you get into the flow of things!

Writing a literature review for a Geography Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) involves summarizing and critically analyzing existing research and literature related to your chosen topic. Here are some steps to help you write a literature review for your Geography NEA:

1. **Define Your Research Question**: Start by clearly defining your research question or topic. This will guide your literature search and help you focus on relevant sources.

2. **Conduct a Literature Search**: Use academic databases, journals, books, and reputable websites to find relevant literature related to your research question. Make sure to use keywords specific to your topic.

3. **Organize Your Sources**: Keep track of the sources you find by creating a bibliography or reference list. Note down key information such as author, publication date, title, and main findings.

4. **Summarize the Literature**: For each source, summarize the main findings, methodologies used, and key arguments. Identify any gaps or contradictions in the literature.

5. **Analyze and Synthesize**: Analyze the literature to identify common themes, trends, and patterns. Compare and contrast different studies and discuss how they contribute to your understanding of the topic.

6. **Critically Evaluate**: Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the studies you have reviewed. Consider the credibility of the sources, the methodology used, and any biases that may be present.

7. **Relate to Your Research Question**: Connect the literature to your research question and explain how each study contributes to your understanding of the topic. Discuss how the existing research informs your own study.

8. **Provide a Conclusion**: Summarize the key findings of the literature review and highlight any gaps or areas for further research. Discuss the implications of the existing research on your Geography NEA.

9. **Cite Your Sources**: Make sure to properly cite all the sources you have used in your literature review following the appropriate citation style (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago).

10. **Edit and Proofread**: Finally, review your literature review for clarity, coherence, and accuracy.

Make sure your arguments are well-supported by the literature and that your writing is clear and concise.
By following these steps, you can create a comprehensive and well-structured literature review for your Geography NEA. Good luck with your research!

Predicted full marks in my lit review, here's a couple tips!
Make sure to copy and paste your reference links in a different document in alphabetical order for safe keeping while writing your lit review - saves time later.

My literature review was 1,080 words total - TYPICALLY teachers recommend only doing 500 words but I think the bigger the better
It included a brief introduction explaining why I've decided to this topic and just summarising the different methods, this was about 70-80 words, just a couple sentences. Keep it short.
I wrote 2 paragraphs for each hypothesis, either both paragraphs supporting my hypothesis or 1 for, 1 against - paragraphs averaged 100-300 words each and included at least 3 different references each, maximum of 6.
I explained briefly what the references stated, used them to support each other, linked it back to hypothesis and explained it.
Each hypothesis had 8-9 references, all well explained and linked to hypothesis

Also I highlighted all my references however this isn't necessary, just made things easier for me, I went back to my literature review frequently in my data analysis and linked that to my references too - keep your review clear for this reason because this was so helpful.

One last thing is, when referencing I just used brackets ie; What the person said (name, 2024) - Since you have to date it that can be annoying asl cause not all references include dates so I used this website called the Internet Archive which allowed me to see when the article was first edited. Articles that weren't dated I just put the date down as when they were very first edited according to Internet Archive.

Hey, if you pm me with your email I can send over detailed NEA help sheets that may help you. If you stick to it, you may be able to get the high marks as most my class did when we did it with this sheet.

Managed to get the Danny Dorling book off a teacher and "Injustice: Why Social Inequality Still Persists", another book by Dorling, which I didn't have. I just looked at a review and robbed some bits from that to make it seem like I read the book. I also used ChatGPT to get an general overview of the book (I'm not promoting AI but all I'm gonna say is work smarter not harder...) If you go to his website, it's got a brief explanation of what is about which you can use to make it seem as if you've actually read it. Then you can snatch bits of the book that are going to "inspire" your oWn investigations". At the end of the day, its the analysis that matters.
