Hi. I am Zainab Hafeez, I just finished my 2nd year of Biomedical Science at ARU Peterborough.

The course is really interesting. It is 50% lessons and 50% in the lab. I really enjoy working in the lab as ARUP provides very up to date facilities and all the equipment in the lab is brand new and high quality. The third phase of the university is under construction which is the living lab and it will be open in September 2024. The living lab is much bigger than the one in phase 1, it has different labs for microbiology lab, project room, clean maker room, dirty maker room with exquisite facilities.

The lecturers here are very good as well. They are passionate about what they are teaching and excellent at delivering it. Year 1 modules cover basic level knowledge and it gets into more depth in year 2. In year 3 it is narrowed down to main modules of your choice along with final year project. We don’t do placement for biomed but instead we do live briefs. In it, a company from outside comes into the university and we work with them. Over the trimester we do our research and at the end we present our findings to internal and external panel. In year 1, we worked with Test Labs and in year 2 we worked with NHS. Other than that, we are 50% in lab so we get a lot of experience in that area as well.

You can also visit us and talk to our senior lecturer on the next Open Day on the 8th June. The labs will be open for you to visit and our course lecturers and students will be there for you to talk to them as well. If you have any other queries, feel free to ask anytime.

Many thanks and best regards,
Zainab Hafeez

Hi there,

Thank you for your question! Have you already made an application with us? If so, we would need to see your application to ensure you meet other criteria first (like entry requirements). If you would like to email [email protected] for further assistance.

If you have not yet applied, you can apply through UCAS now, but as we are in Clearing we may not be able to offer a contextual offer during this time. Please do get in contact with us for further queries and questions.

Many thanks
