Reading PWC degree apprenticeship V Queen Mary London

Im struggling to pickk my firm choice; it has to be one of these.
I applied to (queen mary business (dont want to do)) and (flying start accounting).

Queen mary is closer but want a AAB
Reading is about 1hr 30 mins away but want a BBB + you benefit from the apprenticeship.

IDK what to choose - any particular thing i should consider?

Queen Mary is prestigious but a PwC apprenticeship is phenomenal and will set you up for the future.

You could always make a table and use different criteria:

Grade requirements

Course personal appeal

Course rank

Course prospects/potential

University personal appeal

University ranking

Campus vs city based

Travel time

Travel costs

It will help you see things more clearly.

Hi there,

It is great to hear that you are considering making the University of Reading your firm choice for Flying Start Accounting. This can be challenging when both options have pros and cons but here are some factors you may want to consider when making your decision!

Even though Queen Mary is closer to home, it is important you want to do the course. If you are not particularly interested in Business then it may be more difficult to engage as well in your degree. Passion for your subject is crucial for motivation and enjoying the overall experience! The Flying Start Accounting degree here at Reading is a great choice. It provides practical experience which is very beneficial for future careers. This integrated placement approach can be a significant advantage when looking for a job after university.

I would suggest from what you have said, to consider the course that aligns best with your interests and career goals. If you're not interested in the Business course, then it could lead to a less fulfilling university experience. It is all about where you see yourself thriving both academically and personally. Think about where you may be happier and therefore more successful in your studies. It is also important to note that if you are more interested in accounting and the apprenticeship opportunity at Reading, then Reading might be the better choice. However, if proximity to home is a more critical aspect, then Queen Mary could be a better option. It is all about weighing up what works best for you!

Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions and best of luck with your decision making!

Millie 🙂

HI!! - Sorry for the late reply, tried to stay away from anything study related after exams.
Anyway, did you do the new world, new skills programme? - that gives you an advantage.
In terms of the assessments, they know that you've probably never done something like this before and are lenient but its best to know relevent events happening in the firm (news).
as for personal statement, show your enthusiasm for an interest in this field; for me, i wrote about my interest in finance as a power which moulds around the world.
If you need any advice, feel free to ask! 🙂
