Getting a job

How can I get a job this summer after finishing my A Levels. The jobs I apply to always reject me. I've tried looking on agencies like Indeed but all the jobs there require beyond A Level qualifications. While I'm awaiting my results I'll only have GCSE qualifications to show for

Looking for summer jobs this late in the game is going to be difficult.

Have you considered?:

Recruitment agencies that offer temp work

Networking amongst the people you know, especially your friendship groups

Seasonal work e.g. summer camps, farming

The most common areas to get jobs for students would be in catering, retail, supermarkets, warehousing, and care homes. Catering is probably the sector that you would have the best odds of getting a job this late in the game (they always need people and the work is usually flexible).

GCSEs alone are usually adequate for 400+ different careers, so I wouldn't exactly knock them off, but the jobs available tend to go quickly and not usually available.
I would however look to see if I could supplement your CV with some specific professional qualifications that would be incredibly helpful and specific to the sector that you want to get work in e.g.

Level 2 Hygiene certificate for kitchen work

CompTIA A+ for technical support roles

Personal Trainer Level 3 diploma for personal training roles (do this after A Levels)

CELTA for teaching English as a second language teacher (do this after A Levels)

These are particularly worthwhile if they cost little to do (e.g. less than £1000) and can be completed in a short period of time (e.g. 1 month). Even if you don't get a job this summer, you can use the same qualification(s) for similar jobs whilst you are in university.

I think some of the things that would really boost your chances would be:

Be flexible about your availability

Be able to drive and have access to a car so you can get to obscure locations if necessary

Be open to a variety of roles, and not just the ones that you have in mind

I don't know what you are specifically looking for, so it's difficult to say what you specifically should do.
