Navigating the CAS Process for International Students at DMU

Hey there !
If you’re an international student preparing to study at De Montfort University (DMU) or any other university in the UK. Securing your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is a critical step in your application process. Here’s what you need to know about the CAS, why it’s essential, and how to ensure a smooth experience.

What is a CAS?
A CAS is a unique reference number issued by DMU that confirms you have been accepted onto a course. This letter is crucial because it is required when you apply for your student visa. The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) will need this reference to verify your acceptance at DMU.

Why is a CAS Important?
Without a CAS, you cannot apply for your student visa, which is necessary for you to enter and stay in the UK for your studies. The CAS demonstrates that you have met the university’s admission requirements and are committed to joining the program.

Steps to Receive Your CAS

1.

Receive an Offer Letter: Once you’ve been accepted into a program at DMU, you will receive an offer letter. You should accept the offer and wait for the admissions team to send you instructions regarding the deposit.

2.

Pay the Deposit: To proceed, you must pay 50% of your tuition fees as a deposit. This step must be completed before the university can issue your CAS. The deadline for the September intake deposit is August 23rd. You will also have to pass a credibility interview prior to receiving CAS.

3.

Receive Your CAS: After your deposit is confirmed and you have passed the credibility interview , DMU will issue your CAS. It’s advisable to start this process as early as possible to allow enough time for the visa application and to address any potential issues that might arise.

My experience with the CAS process at DMU was very positive and efficient. As soon as I received my offer letter and decided to attend DMU, I promptly paid the 50% deposit. In July, I received my CAS, which allowed me to begin the visa application process without any delays. The admissions team was incredibly helpful and responsive to all my questions, making the entire process smooth and stress-free.

The benefits of starting early :

Timely Visa Application: Applying for your visa early ensures you have enough time to complete all requirements and avoid last-minute rushes.

Correcting Mistakes: In case there are any errors or additional information needed, starting early gives you the buffer to address these without jeopardising your arrival plans.

Peace of Mind: Knowing that your CAS and visa processes are underway allows you to focus on other preparations for your move to the

As an international students its important to remember that there are several things that are crucial to our applications and securing your CAS is probably one of the most vital . After that ensure you pay your deposit promptly and start the process as early as possible . If you have any questions or need assistance, the DMU admissions team is always ready to help and I’m here to answer any other questions you might have .
Best of luck with your application, and I look forward to seeing you at DMU!

Hi, I applied to a couple of other Unis and they send you a link to CAS Shield pretty early on so you can request the CAS number, does DMU send you the link to CAS shield after deposit or do they not use CAS shield at all and just provide you with a CAS statement that has your number in it.
Hey there ! We provide you with the CAS statement that has a number on it , this would only happen after all the conditions of your offer are met. With me, my conditions included sending my qualifications for verification , completing a credibility interview and then paying my deposit. I finished all this by June and received my CAS a week or two later , the process wasn't too difficult but still left me feeling anxious while waiting for the CAS to be issued. I'd always just advise other students to be a little patient while they verify your qualifications and not too stress too much about it once they've done their part.
