Tourist to Spain

Will be visiting Spain and staying with some friends and was wondering if anyone knew what documents I’d need? I understand they’re on the embassy website but the jargon is confusing me :/

It’s just that I won’t have proof of accommodation as I will be staying with friends, and despite how long I’ll be there, I likely won’t spend more than £90 my entire trip and from what I’ve read they want proof of my ability to spend £90 each day of my trip

If someone could just help me make sense of it all as I’m not sure how long the embassy takes to respond (I’ve asked them the same), that would help loads to relieve my anxiety!

Will you be travelling with a British passport? If not, what is your citizenship?

Yep! I wasn’t aware of all the documents I needed as I previously had a Spanish passport and recently got a British one.

So you were Spanish and now you're not?

Were you required to give up your Spanish citizenship when you became Briitish? When did you become British?
If your nationality is British, you need a passport and a health insurance for journeys to foreign countries in any case.

I had the same worries before my first Spain trip. What I learned: passport valid for 3 months, proof of return flight, and travel insurance are the main ones. They technically want to see you can cover about €100/day, but most people are just waved through. When I booked day trips with Guided Spain Tours, their confirmations also doubled as “proof of itinerary,” which was nice to have in case.
