University of Bradford Physician associate funding

Hello, I'm starting the physician associate masters course in September every other course has a HEE grant of 5000 spread over two years but I can't find this information on the Bradford website and was wondering whether anybody knew anything about this. The grant says all physician associate students would be eligible.

Hiya they said they weren't sure whether the funding was going ahead this year so we will likely find out when we start. However students from last year did receive the grant so I'm sure we will be the same

I should hope so because that's a significant part of funding which could be the difference if somebody finds this course financially viable. And waiting until we have already started to find out, and then told it's not available would be "not good" 😀 Thanks for the reply.

I agree however the funding should never be relied on as a means to pay your course fees. Your tuition fees should already be planned for without the additional funding, as funding is typically hit or miss with some years receiving it and some years not being able to, or you many need this funding for other things like travelling to placement, and placement related costs. If you are able to work on the weekends this could also be an option, however its a very intense course and working might mean you end up struggling or falling behind on course work. I'm sure the funding situation will be fine but best to plan for the worst of situations before you actually start.

Oh absolutely. I have the means to pay tuition but as you eluded to, it would be nice to receive the HEE as a "safety net" if you will for travelling/living expenses. This course was salaried way back when and that got scrapped, and their justification behind the salary was because the intensity meant you shouldn't be working alongside it. Obviously the funding got dropped but the intensity didn't change, go figure haha. Do you have part time employment lined up out of interest?

I don't have any employment lined up. I used to work during my undergraduate course and obviously it was quite a bit easier to do at that point so most of my tuition fees will come from the money I previously earned and saved. But yeah it should have remained salaried particularly for older individuals and individuals who have other people to support and again can't work but unfortunately it's just one of those annoying things. I definitely think its possible to work alongside the course it would just be very stressful .
