Calculator giving wrong answers night before exam?

Can anyone tell my why my calculator is giving me 0.882... when I'm entering all the same buttons and my display looks like this exam walkthrough here:

What are you entering?

Forgot to mention it's question 8 in the video, and I'm entering exactly the same buttons he shows on screen and my display looks the same too. My hunch is it's something to do with the fraction as a power even though I'm pressing literally the same buttons he does.

If you missed out the tan() part, do you get 0.68...

Your calculator is in radians, you need to change it to degrees. At the top of your calculator, the D should be highlighted and you’ll know if you’re in degrees or not.

If that was true why would it give me a decimal? Plus, definitely in D mode

Yes I do! Any idea what's going here?

Bc radian answers can be given in decimals. At the top of your calculator, is the D highlighted or the R?

Fair enough, it says M at the far left and D and Math on the right, this is the first time I'm having any troubles with it.

That’s quite strange then, you’re definitely in degrees so at least that’s not the issue. Maybe if you have time get a teacher to check ur calculator. Sorry I couldn’t help!

Tried a few variations and cant get 0.88, so if youre still having this problem this morning, maybe check each stage
1.57^4 = 6.08
1.57^4 + tan(60) = 7.81
(1.57^4 + tan(60))^(1/3) = 1.98
(1.57^4 + tan(60))^(1/3)/(7.2)^(1/2) = 0.74
It really sounds like youre entering something slightly wrong

Yeah I checked it in the morning, got the right answer and couldn't reproduce what I was getting before, so let's just put it down to exam fatigue lmao. Thanks for the help I appreciate it

Honestly at this point it's looking like I won't be able to get the grade I need cause I literally finished self-studying the curriculum yesterday - started just less than 2 months ago, about 6-8 hours of maths a day - and did my second past paper last night, the first being the night before the first exam. This week is gonna be nothing but predicted papers and praying for a miracle paper 3

Just hope for the best and hit those papers.

Past papers are key, I would start trying to get through as many as you can in time for the last paper. Even if you don’t do it timed, past papers are the best way you can get familiar with the type of questions they might ask you. Also a lot of the time questions will be very similar every year with them just changing the numbers so try get through some more for sure. I do a level maths and honestly it’s the best way to get prepared for the real thing.
maths is just practice so look at mathsgenie and go through all the topics you don't understand. I think they have each topic and then a few questions from each topic
