Hey there , Coventry University Student Ambassador here! 👋

Firstly, working part-time while studying depends on your right to work status. If you hold a British passport, you should have no restrictions on working. However, if you have a BRP (Biometric Residence Permit), for example, as an international student, you will be restricted, usually to 20 hours a week. Aside from that, it is more than possible to work part-time while studying!

At Coventry University, I was sometimes timetabled with around two full days off, and some days I only had morning classes, which gave me the whole afternoon for a shift. We have an amazing talent team that fully supports students with writing CVs, job application processes, advice and guidance for internship options, and overall support through one-to-one appointments to make finding work easier. Additionally, we have an onsite recruitment agency called TheFutureWorks that can also support job searching.

Finding jobs related to science may be a bit more tricky, as you may know, the job market is very competitive at the moment, and most places require experience (despite needing a job to gain experience first 😩). But what I highly recommend is an internship! I took a sandwich year during my Software Engineering course and successfully found an internship for a year. This gave me an immense amount of work experience, networking opportunities, and personal development. Take advantage of Coventry University's career support, and I'm sure you will find a suitable part-time job or even an internship 😁. In terms of scholarships, I recommend keeping an eye on your scholarships (international) page.
