It's how exams work unfortunately, as the years go on, the papers get harder. Especially with the COVID shbang, it meant they had to lower the grade boundaries, and have chosen to raise them this year, as we are the first year that wasn't badly affected by it. Luckily we've ended up with an equation sheet for maths and physics though.

surely if people are finding the papers hard this year the grade boundaries will be low?

Yes you are right - they aim to keep the proportion of grade 7+ and grade 4+ in line with 2019.

this is so relatable but i’m sure you’ll get more than a 6 🫶 honestly i won’t even mind a 6 at this point it genuinely feels like im gonna get a 5

My auntie (who’s a headteacher) says they’ve admitted they made it too hard and they’ll lower the grade boundaries

yh it was the same for me last year when i did my maths GCSE and i wasnt expecting the grade boundaries to be soo high. they were the highest theyve ever been in 2023, so i expect this years grade boundaries might be similar to 2023 and 2019 since COVIDs over, but i have a feeling paper 3 might be the easiest since last year we had two rlly hard papers and one decent one.
