How big of a part do GCES's really play into dentistry?

Other than meeting the requirements, are GCSE's really looked past that any further for most schools. If they do look at them, would they drag you down compared to someone who got the same a levels as you, even if you have much more eg: work experience. For me my grades will be around
8(Maths)
99(Sci)
999(RS/Geog/History)
77(English Lit/Lang)
Distinction ++ (Animal Care)
Even though they are pretty decent, I am worried that I don't have enough GCSE's as well (only 8, last is a btec) and that might factor into it. Also, I have many people in my family in dentistry, so I can easily gain a lot of work experience. Would that be enough to compensate for the decent GCSE results?

I don't know what you need to do in terms of universities etc for dentistry, but generally speaking, work experience matters more than GCSEs once you have done A levels (or just got predicted A level grades). BTECs are also generally considered to be equivalent to GCSEs, so don't worry about that. As long as you get at least a 5 in english and maths and do OK on A levels, GCSEs really aren't hugely important. Your predicted GCSEs look very good, so don't worry too much about it.😄
