Which medical school should I apply to? HELP ASAP PLSS

My GCSEs are quite bad I have 8-9 in science and grade 6 in 7 GCSEs. Unfortunately I don’t meet the minimum requirement of Bristol the uni I want to go to. Where should I apply, I have not done my UCAT yet but it will give me an idea of what score to aim for. Also should I consider medicine with gateway year? If so I will have to ask my teachers to predict me Bs but my predicted will likely be AAA it is only my gcse letting me down. Also this is out of context but do England students have to pay tuition fees in Scottish unis and more than Scottish students? Also without student loan?
Hi! With GCSEs, they might have lower GCSE requirements with Medicine foundation years but these can be more competitive because of this. My advice would be to do your UCAT early-ish September and try and get as high as possible on it then go from there by narrowing down the Unis that don't count GCSEs as much or the foundation year ones. Get some work experience in the summer as well to give you a good personal statement and interview material. If you don't manage it this year, you can just apply next year after completing your A-levels, if applying with A-Levels you've already done, a lot of Unis ignore GCSEs anyway! Good luck!!

Some unis don't look at gcses in depth as long as you get certain minimums in math, English and some sciences I believe. UCAT instead hold a larger weight so aiming above average in that would put you in a secure position. Sometimes applying for unis with smaller class sizes can be better than larger unis especially for med, so I would defiantly apply for some smaller unis. More of my friends received interview offers from unis that have fewer student intake than larger ones but this might not always be the case since they do look alot at ucat.
Wait until you have your UCAT score and then put your info into the which uni Uberthread on the medicine page for some insight on your strategic options.

Nobody can really give you any reliable insight until you’ve done your UCAT. What research have you done on GCSE minima?
