I'm starting a Software Degree Apprenticeship - but I don't do A-Level CS

I'm starting a software engineering degree apprenticeship with a big finance company in London in September, and although I have taken courses online and made various personal projects, I can't help but notice that out of the many tech apprenticeship starters I've talked to, I'm the only one who hasn't studied computer science in school since GCSEs.

I've almost finished year 13 and I'm really excited to start, but I'm quite nervous about whether I'm gonna be behind on my first day. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Hi, congratulations on getting the offer.

I would say, really don't worry about it. For a degree apprenticeship, they know a lot of people haven't done computer science before and it's not a problem (that's why they don't put it in the entry requirements). They're gonna start from zero and teach you everything from the start. So it's just about going in with a willingness to learn and being ready to progress your skills.

If you want, I can send you a video about how to prepare for a degree apprenticeship and how to leave a good impression on your first day, if that would help. Just let me know if you want it. Otherwise, good luck in your degree apprenticeship and I hope it goes well for you.

Thank you for your reply.

That's a good point about them not putting it on the entry requirements. Please do send me that video about necassary preparation, I'm sure I will find value in it.
