interest on studying psychology

hi everyone, I am currently at college studying and level three policing and have almost completed my first year to obtain my first qualification. Due to personal reasons I will not be able to my second year diploma due to the fact I am working from home. I have had numerous interests on what to study when I do obtain my first qualification in uni however I’ve grown a large interest in psychology. My only problem is that I failed science& maths GCSE. I was given the chance to retake maths GCSE during spring time, but I was exempt from having to retake. So I am curious and wonder whether I’ll be able to apply in uni to study psychology. I am open to studying psychology A-level, but that was not the route I went down so it was never an option but now I’m open to it. but my other question will be well will any London six form take me in without science or math GCSE?

Psychology is a science, and some parts draw heavily on your knowledge of Biology. At uni, parts of it are also quite maths-heavy (particularly statistics). So if you "failed science& maths GCSE" you should give some thought as to why that might have been. Were you simply not trying back in your GCSE days? Or was it because you found those subjects tough? If it was the latter, then you should expect to find Psychology tough at uni too.

You say, "I was given the chance to retake maths GCSE during spring time, but I was exempt from having to retake." Can I just check that I've understood you correctly? You could have re-taken GCSE Maths but because you weren't obligated to do so, you decided not too. Is that right? I assume you realise that having GCSE Maths (and English Language) at at least grade 4 are essential for many jobs and university courses? Then why not re-take it? I don't follow your thinking.

There is no requirement to study A level Psychology in order to study Psychology at uni. However, you will need more in the way of Level 3 qualifications than a year of "level three policing", and you will almost certainly need GCSE Maths at grade 4 or above. (Some unis will accept Level 2 Functional Skills Maths instead of GCSE Maths.)

You say, "I am open to studying psychology A-level" but you're also dropping out of college "due to the fact I am working from home". How were you planning to studying psychology A-level then, if you're too busy working from home to attend college? Self-study, or an on-line college perhaps?
