Gap year, clearing or stick it out?

Hi everyone, in my first year of sixth form my predicted grades were BBC, but I managed to get them up to BBB. Because of this, I only applied for uni’s that took BBB and my offer is ABB, however in my mock exams I got A*AB. The uni I firmed is pretty well ranked, but it could be a bit better. I was wondering if after my exams, if my grades are quite a bit above my offer, should I take a gap year and apply to higher ranked uni’s, try and go through clearing or just continue onto my current uni? Also, I’m studying Law so I think university prestige is quote important sadly. Thanks for any help!

Also, I should add that my predictions were low due to the fact that I wasn’t really revising in my first year, but after applying myself in the second year, that’s why I’m seeing quite a change in grades. Many thanks for any answers
Where is your offer from?
Law Clearing last year the only Russell Group I recall was Queens Belfast at AAA.
Well regarded for Law but not RG Leicester and Lancaster were in clearing.
I'd take stock when you get your grades. If you are A*/A then a gap year and sitting lnat and trying for a top ranked Uni may be a good option.

Hi, thanks for the reply, sorry I'm replying from a different account. My offer is to study at Reading Uni which is pretty well ranked am I'm happy I got an offer there as I like the uni, however I know that uni rank is very important in the field of law. If I was to guess my grades so far going off how I've done in my A-levels, I would guess maybe A*BB or A*AB potentially, but I still have two papers left to complete. Do you think I would be able to apply to Southhampton uni for example, or a top ranked one with these sort of grades, and is it worth it? Many thanks for your help.
