does he like me??????/

one of my close friends has a guy friend and they were really close and my friend told me in february he confessed to her right and she didnt like it so they stayed friends but they argued and fell out because he found out that she was making fun of her behind her back right,, which i dont know if it is actually true because she told me they stopped talking because our gcses were coming up and he kept distracting her from studying
ok ive never really had any interactions with this guy weve been in the same class since year 8 but different friend groups and all we barely interact we only like started acknowledging each others existences when my friend started talking to him and we would have like short out of the blue convos with each other? idk just like regular friends and he asked me like twice out of the blue if i wanted a gift from him?/ and hed be really adamant about me accepting it. usually it wasnt anything bad just like food or something
he started texting me like NON stop 2 weeks ago and he texts me like from the morning to the night and i thought it was kind of weird? but im going to reply because its not like we have any problems with each other and he seems like an alright guy from my friends description of him but now all my friends are saying he likes me cuz this is apparently exactly how he acted with the friend that he likes? liked? too + he gave me these headphones as a gift (theyre not new, just an old pair he doesnt use) and i dont know what to think?
he talks to me a lot about my friend too which is confusing ? is he just using me as a replacement for her?
i dont like him anyways, so its not really like i care if he does or not, its just that its mid exam season and its just annoying cuz everyones saying he likes me and I JUST WANNA FOCUS ON REVISING
