PPE/Economics/Politics / Target Unis

Is Nottingham a good Uni for a Philosophy,Politics and Economics degree.

And why are they ranked lower than unis like Lancaster but all the comments I see is that they are better ? Is this because of their economics reputation.

Yes, it's a good uni for PPE. Rankings aren't the be-all and end-all. Rankings place emphasis on subjective factors like student satisfaction and various other data points which have little to do with reputation/teaching quality. In terms of employability and reputation, Nottingham is generally well-respected. No employer needs to look at rankings to determine this

Thankyou this is helpful to know. I can see that graduate prospects are good and they have had students go on to work for big investment banks so they must be doing something right

My daughter studied straight Politics at Notts, and after a journalism masters, went to the BBC before joining a media agency and now is a partner in PE firm.Peers went into more traditional work in Westminster . My son is doing A levels this year and hoping to read PPE. His choice of university was largely dictated by the fact he didn’t do A level Maths- to many it is a prerequisite and to others who don’t specify it, it is quietly preferred.His choices kept an eye on links with FS industry and were Warwick, Exeter, Belfast and York ( the latter because of a lower grade requirement), and St Andrews for IR & Econ. He was offered 4/5 and settled on Warwick with Exeter insurance.

If you don't mind me asking, what were your son's predicted grades?
