Radiographer/ offer for other course

I applied for Diagnostic Radiography, at Hertfordshire university. But I didn't meet the conditions of 24 distiction, I have just 6.
They offer my another course Degree in science Biomedical-healthcare science.
Does anyone had something similar?
Thank you.

Have you looked for radiography courses with a foundation year? Can you retake your Access course?

Just to add, it isn't unusual when someone doesn't meet the entry requirements to then offer them an alternative course. If your heart is set on it then we would suggest the same advice as normaw above. Our @CCCU Health Rep can help more if you have any specific questions on what else might be available to you.

Regarding retake I will call the Access to HE course. I emailed Hertfordshire regarding foundation year. I was thinking to do maybe Level 3 diploma in Biology?

You would need to ask Herts if they would accept a level 3 diploma for the course. Repeating your Access course would take less time - a BTEC National Extended Diploma usually takes two years.

Basically this is an initial year for science, where then you can o to the course. Does anyone done something like that. Should I do it at university ir I should retake my Access to HE Diploma?

I’m sorry to hear you did not meet the grades you needed.

To answer your question, well, that honestly depends on how set you are on becoming a radiographer. If you are interested in the course offered, take it, but honestly, if you aren’t, then don’t. Completing a degree is hard, completing one you have no interest is near impossible.

1. Have you checked to see if there are any other unis that will accept your grades?

2. If not, I would consider redoing the access course but only if you feel you can make significant improvements. If you got 6 D and they need 24 D, that is a big difference. Ask yourself why you didn’t do as well, was it the difficulty of the course? Or is it because, you did not put in as much time and effort as you could’ve? Maybe because of responsibilities outside of the access course? Ask yourself, if you did the access course again, do you think you could meet the entry requirements? If not, then maybe you need to consider alternative career. A radiography degree is quite difficult, which is why they have entry requirements, they want to make sure you can deal with the level of course difficultly.

Good luck and don’t give up if it’s what you truly want, you passed the interview which clearly shows they believe you can become a great radiographer. The next step is securing the grades.
