Occupational therapy at Wolverhampton University

Hello, anyone doing OT at Wolverhampton University? I would like to know more about the course and placement. Im starting this september, hopefully, and I would like to be more organised.
Hi,

I will have a look into this for you and find out more about the course and the placements to help you with your organisation ready for September. In the meantime make sure to look at our website - https://www.wlv.ac.uk/courses/bsc-hons-occupational-therapy/ and look into the course modules section for each year.

Thank you,

Thank you

Hi,

So I have spoken to a member of staff that is part of the Occupational Therapy course and this is what they've said.

In terms of placements, there are 1000 hours of clinical placement over the three years of the course.
The level 4 placement falls right at the end of the "traditional academic year" April / May / June 2025 so don't worry you have plenty of time to prepare.
Before students go on placement they have plenty of pre-placement preparation in the University to ensure they have the skills to make the most of the experience. If students have particular issues eg caring responsibilities or other needs we will do our best to offer placement which takes this into account.

The course starts in September with a comprehensive welcome week to support orientation and adjustment so I would just make sure that you are able to attend during that week, I believe dates for this will follow later in the year.

The months between September and placement in level 4 are spent studying underpinning knowledge and theory for practice and professional skills.

In terms of getting organised, I would just try to make sure I had some of the things in place that I might need for any course of study eg a system to record my thoughts or lecturers thoughts and I had tried to enjoy the time before I started the course making the most of rest and relaxation opportunities.

I hope this helps and if you have any specific questions feel free to ask, I'll be happy to help.

Kind Regards,
