Surrey or Bath for Politics

Hi! I’m struggling to pick between firming Bath and Surrey for politics.

Bath is a Russell group, top 10 for Politics, beautiful campus city.
Is the nightlife good. But super expensive from what I’ve been told

Surrey is a uni I have visited, I like the campus, the course seems great, the lecturers seem amazing too.
One lecturer told me due to the smaller cohort I’d have more access to opportunities at Surrey.

I really want to go to London to get my internship/placement and Surrey (Guildford) is a little bit more inexpensive but also a quick commute.

However I want to do what’s best for me overall, what’s the best degree I could get as Uni is so expensive I want to do it right.

Feel free to give me your opinions thanks!

I honestly would pick bath, i'm biased since i didn't pick surrey as one of my choices nor have a been there. But when i went to baths open day its very beautiful campus with great connections in the industry. Constantly ranking high in the UK university rankings even though it is not a Russel group university. If there avaliable try unibuddy, watch some day in the life and read the modules that are involved. I found them to be useful because at the end of the day the university can look nice but if it doesnt match with your learning style or there are modules you dont like then it will be a hard three years.

Hi Anonymous #1

Congratulations on your offers to study politics!

Politics here at Surrey is great and is ranked 11th by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Additionally, the course is Top 5 in the UK for Overall Student Satisfaction and Student Experience.

We have an award-winning Careers and Employability team, who can help you find placements and internships. They can help you with CV and cover letter checks, Mock interviews, LinkedIn checks and more! So, you’ll be supported throughout your application journey as well as during your placement.

If you’re interested, during 3rd year you can spend half or all the year on a study exchange at our partner institutions around the world. Some of these include the US, Australia and Europe.

Surrey has great transport links and it only takes around 30-45 minutes to commute to London.

In terms of the social scene, Surrey has multiple clubs and societies, so it’s fairly easy to mix with others and find people that ‘click’ with you. Additionally, the night life is vibrant, and we have two nightclubs on campus. Both are affordable and well attended by students.

Overall, finding the place that’s right for you is the best choice, so wishing you the best of luck!

Kind Regards,
