Will guy that likes you ask you to spend money on him?

I know him for quite some times, nearly a year. And in the beginning, he always pay for the meals and drink even when i offer to pay or 50-50, he reject it. But towards the mid, he started ask for 50-50.
Just note i also have pay for our meal once or twice.

Then one day, he started to say “oh you should buy me a chagee” to which i dont know why, but i hate it when someone start to ask, i dont mind spending if they dont ask. Then i jokingly say “Fine. I will buy you chagee since thats what you want” and boom! He gets triggered “i dont like when you say that. Its as if im forcing you to buy and you have no choice”💀

Im dead.. Also makes me think, if he do that, does it mean he don’t like me? Im not willing to spend on a guy frequently if he didn’t like me back. Its a waste
