Surrey Business School vs. Henley Business School - Which is Better?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to decide between Surrey Business School and Henley Business School for my business studies. As an international student deciding which business school to opt for is difficult. I would appreciate any insights on the following aspects:

1. Campus Environment: How do the campuses compare in terms of facilities, atmosphere, and overall student life?

2. Employability: Which school has better connections with industry, internship opportunities, and career support services?

3. Extracurricular Activities: What kind of clubs, societies, and events are available for students interested in business and entrepreneurship?

I’m looking for a well-rounded experience that combines a great learning environment with strong career prospects.

Any personal experiences or opinions would be greatly helpful!

Thanks in advance!
Hi @Ahmad-1234

I'm glad to hear you're considering studying at Surrey! I'll try my best to provide you with an insight into Surrey.

Campus Environment:
We have two main campuses: Stag Hill and Manor Park. As you will be studying Business, you will most likely spend most of your time on Stag Hill.

Surrey is a campus university, meaning that most of the facilities you require will be available on campus. We have a Co-Op supermarket on the ground floor of our library, which includes all the essentials with banking and Post Office facilities.

Our library has six accessible floors, each offering unique services and books. We have different modes of study depending on your needs, including bookable group, individual and silent study rooms. You can also access our Disability and Neurodiversity service, Maths and Statistics, Academic Skills and English Language hub on the first floor. Find out more about the library here, including a 360 tour!

All our accommodation is self-catered, and you have to prepare meals yourself. However, there are plenty of places to eat out on campus if you don't like cooking. We have several cafes, restaurants and bars on campus offering a variety of food.

Our other campus, Manor Park, features our health sciences block, accommodation and the Surrey Sports Park. We also have our Manor Park Social which is run by the Students' Union. You can learn more about accommodation here, and view them 360 here. I highly recommend having a look on YouTube for some vlogs on campus. Here's one from StagTV.

Employability:
At Surrey, we're proud to have an award-winning Employability and Careers team. They can provide 1-1 support for careers advice, CVs, cover letters, interviews and much more.

We offer all undergraduates the opportunity to undertake a professional placement year, which can be a fantastic way to learn more about your sector of interest, gain practical industry experience and boost your employability prospects.

We also host regular career fairs and have our dedicated SurreyPathfinder platform with over 2,300 partnered employers, offering opportunities from internships, placements, part-time work to full-time graduate roles.

As Guildford is only a 35-minute train journey to London, you'll also have access to one of the world's largest job markets to launch your career! Our Stag Hill Campus is just a 10-minute walk from the train station and a 15-minute walk to the town centre.

Extracurricular Activities:
We have many clubs, societies and activities available to students. You can find the list of societies here. I am a member of the Economics and Finance society which may interest you. We host all sorts of events including talks, networking events and games! All societies are run by students from the university and you are also able to create one here.

We also host Active Freshers every year which can be a brilliant way to try out a new sport for free! Surrey Sports Park also offers subsidised memberships to students.

Unitemps also has a branch in Surrey, offering you part-time job opportunities. It's worth double-checking visa restrictions on work, however, if you have any questions, you're more than welcome to email [email protected].

I hope this post was informative. If you need to find out more, please visit our website or reply to this post and I'll try my best to get back to you!

All the best

The campus environment here at Reading is located on the picturesque Whiteknights campus. The campus in renowned for its expansive green spaces, lakes and gardens which provides a tranquil and peaceful setting for study and leisure. The facilities in the Henley Business School benefit from modern lecture theatres, seminar rooms for group discussions and workshops along with the ICMA Centre which is dedicated to finance and capital markets research. There are also lots of dedicated study spaces across the campus, including quiet study zones, collaborative spaces for group work, individual study pods equipped with wifi and power outlets and more. Henley also has built a strong reputation in areas of industry reputation. This means there are opportunities for internships, guest lecturers and real world projects. There are also lots of career support at Reading with the dedicated careers team which provide support tailored to enhance student employability. These services include career coaching, CV workshops, mock interviews and access to a wide network of employers through careers fairs and networking events. The school also offers personal development through many skills workshops, leadership programs and seminars.
