Dental universities

Hi, which dental universities should I apply to and have a good chance of getting an interview.
My stats are as follows:
GCSE: 999999987777 (two 9s were retakes in maths and Spanish due to a medical condition which was out of my control)
A levels: A* A* A* (physics, biology, chemistry)
UCAT : 3250

ucat testing hasn’t started so how do you have a UCAT score already

pretty aspirational predictions I must say, but honestly a ucat above 2900 you’re guaranteed an interview anywhere you apply. Most if not all uni’s don’t differentiate between the number of a*s (apart from qmul who look at UCAS tariff points) and you have a good amount of 8s and 9s. I think the only dental school that differentiates between 8 and 9 is belfast, so you’re solid getting an interview wherever you apply.

I would just like to add though, if you are successful in getting 2900+ be ready for your interviews by December, because you will likely be the first batch.

Thank you for your reply, but surely 99999999 is more favourable than 88888888?
And I have been told by sixth form teachers that a UCAT of under 3000 is average!?

No.ucat of 3000 is exceptionally well above average as it is top decile and only smaller % of students get 3000+

As someone that’s gone through the application process and analysed deeply the requirements of pretty much every dental school, it’s only 1 or two that differentiate between a 9 and an 8. KCL for example doesn’t, they see a 9 and an 8 the same.

Also your sixth form teachers are lying to your, the average is 2500. It’s quite strange that ur teachers to be saying 3000k is average, here are the official stats from the UCAT website https://www.ucat.ac.uk/results/test-statistics

As you can see, 2800+ puts u in the 9th percentile and pretty much guarantees you an interview.

If you have any other questions go for it

Sit the ucat then decide , it’s pointless deciding before you’ve even got your score .

I agree, I’ve seen another one of ur posts and you say you’re in Y11. Don’t underestimate the UCAT at all if you haven’t sat at least 8-10 mocks (and don’t sit mocks now lol) there’s no way you can guarantee a score above 2750. I know people that got full 9s and A*s that got below average, and the average score at my school was only around 2700. But also don’t worry about the UCAT until June 2025 !!
