first year failed modules

I’ve failed 3 modules in year one undergraduate physio degree course
Module One - I failed 1 of 3 exams - scored well in other 2
Module Two - I got a good mark in the essay but (just) failed the presentation component
Module Three - I got a very high mark in one exam, but spectacularly failed the other

Is there any chance they’ll allow me to retake the failed element of each of the 3 modules rather than retake the year? In each module, my overall mark was above the required 40% BUT you need to pass every element to pass.

Can anyone give me any hope?

Hi,

Sorry to hear this, congrats on passing your other elements tho!

I'm guessing you will need to ask your course leader as every course and uni is different, but I can give some hope as I know that my course leader is doing summer re-sits for anyone who failed that module assignment. So hopefully it is the same for you, but all you can do is ask.

Wishing you the best of luck

Thank you for replying! I’ve actually overall passed all but one module, but have failed assignments within the modules if that makes sense? The one I overall failed was because I didn’t realise a presentation needed a reference list although did reference the images I used. I was given a zero for that - seems harsh!

Hey!

I am so sorry to hear that!! As Grace mentioned, I would definitely express your confusion to your lecturers and ask whether you can re-do just the module over Summer, seeing as you maintained high levels in the other modules.

I hope everything turns out Ok and don't let this take away from your other modules that you did well in

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't pass this module, but I'm so proud of you for passing the most of it!

The first thing I would suggest is for you to have a chat with your teacher and course leader about the course you failed, as it is clearly unreasonable to give a zero, and if the teacher is unwilling to change the strange grade, you can appeal to the Academic Committee or something like that.

If this above doesn't do any good, you can ask your course leader if you can re do this course in the summer holidays.
I would also advise you to make sure you read your course brief and assignment requirements in the future, as this can save you a lot of trouble.

Lastly, I hope you get the results you are looking for.

I’m gonna take a shot in the dark here and say you are a gifted student who procrastinates a lot, this is based on the seesaw grades you’ve gotten.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you have failed these components but well done on passing the other ones!

As others have said I would suggest talking to your module and course leads about this and they will be able to help and talk you through this. Most universities have a time in July/August where students are able to re-sit the modules if they failed them before having to re-sit the whole year. But differently speak to the members of staff at your university about this.

I hope this helps and good luck 😊

Hi there!

Good to hear you did well on certain parts of the course and have an overall good average. I do believe that usually, most universities would allow you to resit assignments that you failed and allow you a chance to make up for the marks, it would depend on the course structure and the university, so it is a good idea to talk to your academic advisor and find out exactly what your options would be.

Goodluck with your course!

Best wishes,
